Last week the NZAS Southland Science and Technology Fair was held at the Invercargill Working Mens Club. The senior team entered 13 different projects, Tī Kōuka entered 9 projects which small groups worked on. Tarata entered a class project showcasing their learning about water bottle rockets and Pōkākā shared their work on pest control in the Otatara Scenic Reserve. Two keen pairs of students even completed a project each in the school holidays! Every senior class visited the fair last week and was impressed with the range of projects on display from across Southland. 

Our hard work was recognised at prize giving on Friday with even more prizes to be presented tomorrow in assembly. All our boards will be on display at assembly. If you'd like a closer look, you're welcome in the hall from 1:30pm.

Congratulations to all our students and staff for a fabulous kapa haka performance at Polyfest - what a team effort!
It was wonderful to not only see our whole kura performing on stage with such mana but also to see our newly formed group -Te Rākau o te Ao- The Trees of the World.   I'm sure you all made your whānau and kaiako proud!
A big shout out to Miss McIntosh, Miss Tisdall, Mrs Seager, Whaea Nae and Chris Hewton for their leadership and expertise.
Special thanks also to the Community Trust  South for the generous donation of $1157.00 towards the new uniforms for Te Rākau o te Ao and to our incredible Parent Group for their support.  A big thank you to Denise Young, the seamstress who created the dresses, and Creation Signs who provided the printing of the design. 

Next Thursday 5 September, the Junior students have been invited to help out with planting at Bushy Point.  Students will leave school at 1:30pm and return at 2:45pm.  Please ensure that your child has warm clothes, a waterproof jacket and gumboots, along with garden gloves. 
Whānau are welcome to meet us there to assist with the planting.

Good Tech are holding a colouring competition and would love our students to be involved!

4th September 2024:  Harry, Xavier and Harrison have organised a cupcake fundraiser for KidsCan.  They will be selling their cupcakes and lemon cake for $2 each at lunchtime outside Rooms 7 and 8. 
Please send along $2 per cupcake/ slice if you would like your child to purchase some.

We are participating in Wig Wednesday on September 11th to raise funds for Child Cancer.  Students are invited to come in mufti with wigs or crazy/wacky hair for a gold coin donation.

The ILT Sing Out tickets are now LIVE!  Our amazing choir under the direction of Miss Williams will be performing on stage on the Thursday night.
