New teacher (kaiako)
Welcome also to kaiako, Bronwyn Graham, who has joined our team for 3 days a week.  Bronwyn has been associated  with our kura  for a number of years.  Her 2 children came to Otatara School and she has worked with us as an environmental educator in her role with the Southland Community Nursery.  
We are delighted to welcome Bronwyn to our team and look forward to continuing to learn alongside her.

We are very appreciative of the mahi and awhi of Chris and Aimee for our repainted road markings in the school and Community Centre carpark areas.  It has really tidied up these spaces and made parking and no parking areas much clearer. 
A big thank you to Downers for their support with Chris undertaking this work and Aimee from Beach Rd Holiday Park for supplying the paint.  

The weather co-operated on Wednesday and was perfect for our senior school athletics day.
Students competed in a range of field and track events with the day culminating in the age group relay races.
A big thank you to our kaiako, support staff and whānau for organising and assisting with the events.

SouthRoads have been contracted to complete the renewal of a section of Otatara Road.  To complete this safely they need to close the road during construction.  Construction work will take place between 6am and 6pm for two weeks, programmed to run from the 10th March – 22nd March.  During this time there will be a full road closure of Otatara Road between Curran Road and Ferry Road between 6am and 6pm daily from Monday to Saturday. There will be a detour via Bay Road, Curran/Stead St or Ferry/Hughes/Coggins Road.

Southland School Swimming Championships
Sunday 6th April - Splash Palace

Cost - $8 per event entered

This event is for competitive swimmers. Click on the link below for information/registration details. Once you have registered your child with fastlane could you please email: sport@otatara.school.nz with your child's name and events entered, to assist with the relay team entry.  If you are not registered with a swim club please email the above email address with your child’s entry information. 

The team will require a manager if you would like to take on the job please let me know on the sports@otatara.school.nz email.
