Diving New Zealand Skills Nationals
Congratulations to Charlotte Rain who last weekend travelled to Auckland to compete in her first national competition for diving (11 and under section).  Charlotte came first out of a field of almost 40 competitors, an amazing result - we might have a future Commonwealth or Olympic athlete in our midst!

Southland Social Sciences Fair
Congratulations to Vinny Stewart for the merit award he recently won at the Southland Social Sciences Fair.  Vinny put together a display board work about his hobby of foraging at Omaui Beach.

How does a mathematician work at  Ōtātara School ?

We think, talk, and act like a mathematician of course! We make connections, notice, take risks, set goals, and justify our thinking - and that's not all!
Below is a poster that you may spot in your child's classroom which underpins our thinking when we work and learn in mathematics. Be sure to have a chat with your child and ask them what it means to be a mathematician.

We are on the hunt for a guitarist to assist us with our 2024 Polyfest performance. We are looking for someone who could come along to junior practices Tuesday and Thursday 2:30pm and work alongside our senior team guitarist closer to the performance.

Tomorrow Friday 14th June is St Johns Light The Way Mufti Day Celebration.  Help your child/ren dress up brightly and light the way!  Please send a gold coin donation to support St John Ambulance. 

It was wonderful to participate in the 2024 Sing Thing at the ILT Southland Stadium along with many other schools from across the motu.  A big thank you to the Sing Thing Organising Committee for making this event possible and a special thank you to Dr Susan West for her vision and ongoing commitment to our region.
We had a great time singing together with other schools, with each other and with senior citizens from across our special city.  
Thanks to all the whānau helpers who supported us.

 

Our Year 5/6 leadership system is made up of 3 levels based on our school’s graduate profile. 

Students write a letter outlining the service they are providing, the responsibilities they have and how they are managing themselves in relation to our school values of ako, manaakitanga, whanaungatanga and kaitiakitanga.
